China's software industry generated total revenue of RMB 951.3 billion ($139.24 billion) in 2009, up 25.6 percent year-on-year, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Feb. 3.
Revenues generated by the software products sector contributed RMB 328.8 billion ($48.13 billion) to total industry revenue for the year, an increase of 26.3 percent from 2008.
The most dynamic growth was seen in the software services sector,outsourcing software development, which generated revenues of RMB 212.63 billion ($31.12 billion),Data processing companies, up 31.4 percent year-on-year. Within this sector,Financial service outsourcing, revenues generated by software outsourcing services increased by 35 percent year-on-year to RMB 30.7 billion ($4.49 billion) during the same period.
Revenue generated from the system integration software, embedded software and IC design software sectors hit RMB 220.29 billion ($32.24 billion), RMB 167.36 billion ($24.50 billion) and RMB 22.22 ($3.25 billion) respectively between January and December.
The value of software exports reached $18.5 billion last year,Financial outsourcing, up 14 percent on an annual basis, of which the value of software outsourcing to foreign markets totaled $2.4 billion, up 15 percent year-on-year.
